Coming to Tenerife and wanting to do a photo session, many people face a serious dilemma about which location to choose!
I don't blame them, because beaches, mountains, forests, volcanoes, and cliffs compete very evenly with each other.
That's quite a few options ;) Today I present you with another one.
A place quite unknown and unpopular, yet incredibly beautiful.
Playa Amarilla - beach beneath the yellow rock
It's called Playa Amarilla, which translates to yellow beach, although the word 'beach' doesn't really fit here.
As you'll see in this photo story, it's more like rocks and 'shelves' where you can lie down, rather than a beach with sand.
The name Amarilla also comes from the mountain you see in the photos - it has an undeniably yellow-orange-brown color.
It composes beautifully with the turquoise water.

Turquoise water and one of the best snorkeling spots in Tenerife
Tenerife mostly has dark beaches with black volcanic sand, and although the water is clean, it often doesn't look that way.
This is due to the seabed - dark sand makes the water appear gray or dark navy blue.
Playa Amarilla is one of the few places where instead of sand, the seabed is filled with fairly light rocks, which gives the water a beautiful color too.
Only then can you see how clean the ocean is!
The rather raw atmosphere with cliffs in the background works perfectly for a couples session
And swimming in this place is paradise for divers!
You can observe lots of fish here, and even turtles.
The water is crystal clear, although there can be quite large waves.

Diving in Tenerife - Playa Amarilla
This entire Playa Amarilla area is an underwater nature reserve - which is why it's one of the favorite diving spots for locals and tourists.
Apparently, you can encounter numerous animal species here.
Even snorkeling, without tanks, just with a mask and snorkel, you can come across a turtle :)
You can beautifully see the moon from there
During the day, each of these shelves is occupied by some family - great atmosphere!
